Crossing Made Easy
Really – it’s easy. Despite what you may have heard, you can come to Windsor, Essex County and Pelee Island any time – without a passport! You can drive over the bridge or through the tunnel, just like you always have. Simply bring your birth certificate and driver’s licence or other government issued photo I.D., and you’re good to go – and get back home, too!
Right now, the only reason you would need a passport is if you're flying to Canada. And, with the ease of using the Windsor airport, and its gateway access to major highways, rail and air connections, it's a great option to consider!
The new passport laws are expected to take effect in June 2009.
It’s a good idea to apply for a passport well before that date. However, until then, you have plenty of time to enjoy all the great stuff you’ve always loved about Windsor, and you
don’t
have to worry about a passport. It really is that easy.
